Bearded not eating PLEASE HELP

firefighter2598 Mar 18, 2005 06:26 PM

i HAVE A 14-16 INCH bearded that was eating like a pig on crickets, mealies, and greens. He has not eaten for two days and when I got home today his beard was dark, a wierd shade too, like dark grey not the black of pissed off. I have a mercury vapor bulb on him, the conditions are perfect as far as temperature goes. He gets within about ten or twelve inches of the uvb bulb. Is it possible that that is too close? Any ideas? Im starting to worry. Thanks for any help you can give.

Mercury Vapors come in many wattage and different kinds, we need to know the make and the wattage of it. 10-12 inches is okay for some, but not for others

It is a 100 watt bulb I think he threw up this morning also.

A 100 watt blub still does not tell me what brand it is, like Active UV Heat, PowerSun, MegaRay, Capture the Sun, High noon, etc or if it is a flood or spot. SOme of those are safe within 10 to 12 inches, some are not.

What are you measuring temps with? Although throwing up is usually a sign the temps are not right for digesting or he did not bask before lights out, he could be too close the the Light and that is making him sick
