I feel like an ASS!!

I feel really bad, I got bit. My baby bit me. It is totally my fault, Lately I have been very busy and I have been feeding my carpet in her cage to save time and not holding her very much. I have alot of decorations in there and when I reached in she couldnt see my hand until popped up in front of her and she nailed me. I of course took her out and held her after that. She calmed down immediatly (sp) and crawled up on my shoulders as if to say "sorry dad" I feel bad for neglecting her and pushing her to this. But I guess I will look at the bright side and I will hold her more now.

I would not worry about the bite. Owning snakes means a bite once in a while. The key is to avoid them if possible. I agree with you that holding her more will help.

I have been biten four times. Every time it was a female. (BCI twice, corn once, Dumeril's once). My cat used to bite me harder so I don't sweat it.

No big deal, my JCP (female) bit me everytime I picked her up for at least a year. So far we are on a roll, it's been almost two months since she has bitten me, so I call that progress. The other day I was feeling particularly confident with her and let her crawl around my shoulders and sat down to watch tv. After a few minutes, and practically forgetting about her, I took a glance down and to the left to see her, that little bit of movement set her off and she stuck at my face cheek, but it was a closed mouth strike, thank goodness. But that's the closest she's come to biting me in a almost two months. She was a year and half when I got her so she's 2 1/2 now, so she's getting pretty big, just under 5'. Here's her picture, she's still my favorite snake. I think JCP's are the best looking snakes in the pet trade.
