Crested clicking

kirkpatrick Mar 18, 2005 07:36 PM

I keep my cresteds in a room with all my reptiles, the temperature is at a constant 80 degrees. I dont keep a light on them because I have read that they dont do well above 80. however I noticed lately that they click just a little. Do they possibly have a respiratory infection? If so should I raise the temperature of their cage temporarily? Advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I am not a vet and although i do not know if they have a respiratory infection, i do know that raiseing the tank temp will NOT help. cresteds are maintained at room temps and pushing above 82-83 degrees starts to be stressfull for the animals, possibly causing heat illness and death if much higher.

Crested geckos have been known to vocalize according to several sources, it is possible that is what is going on.

I hope other people will be able to help awnser your q's.

Clicking is natural for cresteds especially if you have more than one per cage nothing really to worry about.
