Breeding problems...

beardielover13 Mar 18, 2005 08:44 PM

This year, I got a new female because my other female is too old to breed. She is 20 months old and in great health. She is 19 1/2 inches long and 450 grams. My male has been a successful breeder the last two years and this year he is not breeding with the new female. He is about 17 inches long and weighs 425 grams and in perfect health besides a small tail nip. He has been exposed to the female about 4 times this year for a day at a time and has yet to breed with her. The first time i introduced them was a month and a half ago and she has no eggs even in her. What can i do to get him to breed with her? Thanks.

Have supervised and made sure that the female is comforatable........because if not she may be attack the male and scaring him away......That is one possiblity........hope this helps

I do supervise them. i let them run around inside the cage and on the floor. They are never alone together for more than 2 minutes. Two quick questions. The first is how many carrots are good for beardies to eat to increase their color? Also, are earthworms you would buy at a fishing store okay for beardies??? Thanks.
