Sony DSC- F707/F717/F828 Which is best for outdoor photos?

tonymaldonado Mar 18, 2005 10:43 PM

I used the F707 for a while, until it was broken by my mother *she sat on it* anyway, I loved that camera and I just havent been able to get used to usuing film again, so I was wondering if the F717 or F828 have any improvements for outdoor photos? Anyone that has used all these camera's or any of them, and can give me some suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

I have had the Sony DSC F828 for about a year now, and would highly recommend it. It has a new 4 color CCD sensor that gives amazing colors. It has a 28-200mm mechanical zoom, and an 8 Megapixel resolution. It takes the memory stick and compact flash cards, including the IBM microdrives. You might need them if you shoot photos in the RAW mode, or .TIFF. The file sizes are about 24 Megs each. It is FAT32 compliant, so it can use the new Seagate 5 Gig microdrive CF card. I use it as a video camera, too. Unlike some cameras that have a motorized zoom, you can zoom in the video mode. It produces 30 fps, 640X480 quality MPEG1 format movies. Using Nero Express DVD burning software, I can go from taking the video with my Sony, to playing it on my DVD player in about 15 minutes. Leave me your email address, and I'll send you some full size outdoor photos.

I read a professional review of the 828 recently that said it was fairly noisy for an expensive 8MP camera. I would suggest you try reading some reviews before you buy.

dpreview.com is a great place to start.
