Dripper Setups.

Nez02 Mar 19, 2005 12:39 AM

I have my dripper dripping on my ficus tree and after about 15 min the catcher on the bottom of the pot is full of water. I woud like to drip all day and was wondering what you guys use to catch the water, and how you set it up so that it hits the leaves but also makes it in the catch basin for the most part. My cham. drinks when I drip but I agree 100% with you that dripping all day would be best. I beleive they need to drink when they want to, not when I decided to drip.

Thanks

Nez

Hi Nez,

wasn't around much this weekend...I actually use three containers for catching water. If your dripper holds a quart of water you know your catch basin needs to hold at least that amount. I place my dripper on top of the UVB fixture which warms the water a bit and also guarantees her time under the light

I will try to take pictures later to post - remind if I forget :/

Thanks lele I figured you were just not around your comp over the weekend. How often do you run your humidifier? I know you live in a cold climate like me and humidity seems to be hard to keep in the winter. I have mine going every 2 hours for 10 min. 12 to 12. Thank god spring is around the corner.

Thanks for all the help.

hello, in my cage it sits on a old table. i used a 2 inch hole saw a nd cut a hole through the bottom of the cage and the table. i them used rtv and to the bottom of the cage bottom rtv'd pvc pipe. the pipe serves as a drain. under the table i use a good size ceramic pan to catch the water. i have to empty it once a day or so. i also glued some screen on the hole of the cage bottom. my plant sits right on top of it. so i do not have a catch pan inside. i use a half gallon container and 1 pin hole at the bottom. fill that and it drips for at least 2 to 3 hours. i fill it twice a day. he definately drinks from it but most of the day he seems facinated by the drops as they bounce of the leaves. hope this helps. good luck matt
