Help: Blood in stool

dewkitty Mar 19, 2005 03:22 AM

I just noticed my 10 year old Uro has a lot of blood in his stool. Almost looks clotted in little clumps like berries. His subtrate is bird seed. he is in a large 8' long wood and glass enclosure (I got from Pet Kingdom in San Diego). He has the right lighting and the temps are correct. I used to be a member here years ago and learned everything here.
He eats greens, kale, peas, sugar snap peas, corn, carrots, bean sprouts ect..

He is fat and has a great appetite and is active. He doesnt look or seem ill at all. I have had him for 10 years.

I will take him to a vet (any suggestions on a herp vet in San Diego?) But would like your input.
should I be really worried> Could it be his greens were not chopped up small enough???

Thanks, Kelley

I think it's coccidia that sometimes makes the stool look as though it has blood in it - could be a different parasite, but I know one of them does. I would get a fecal check asap with your herp vet. Even if it's the food, it will be a good idea to get the fecal done for your peace of mind.
