food question

Red wigglers, cricketts and mondo worms are the mainstay of Iggies diet. Now that decent weather has finally arrived in the great white north (ok, I'm only in Erie, it just seemed whiter than normal this winter LOL) there are plenty of bugs and what not outside that are easy to catch. My yard and neighboring yards are pesticide free so I'm not concerned about that.

Would Iggie like the taste of an occassional grasshopper or white moths (think they are cabbage moths) or spiders? Just thought a variaty might be nice on occassion, but not sure what bugs might be a problem for him. Ladybugs are not an option, those guys are for aphid control and I need all I can get LOL.

Have a good day all.

I have tried grasshoppers but they just seem to jump around the tank forever. Your neighbors' and your yard may be pesticide free but that is no guarantee that the bugs are. I am sure that a grasshopper can cover a lot of turf in a days time. I personally stay clear of field caught insects and stick with the ones I know are pesticide free.

Good point, thanks. Too bad, I figured food for Iggie would make sweet revenge for the damage the buggers do in my garden
