Ive never been there, but last year we camped at pilot mtn state park. If you hike one of the trails that runs along the river there is a long rock wall that is just crawling with water snakes. We also saw another kind that I cant think of right now. Definitely the most I have ever seen in a short amount of time. Have fun.

I've been to Jones Lake many times. I used to swim there when I was a kid. I go there now looking for carnivorous plants and reptiles.
When you get there go straight to the ranger station. Tell a ranger what you're looking for and they'll be happy to help you. They even sometimes keep animals in the ranger station, including snakes.

There is a nearby lake called Saulters Lake. It's more secluded than Jones Lake. There are plenty of lizards there. You have to get a permit if you want to visit Saulters lake. To get one all you have to do is ask for one at the Jones Lake ranger station. There are plenty of lizards there.

You'll also want to drive around the back dirt roads that surround Jones Lake.

I know some other nearby locations that are good to visit too, if you're interested.
