going away

sage000 Mar 20, 2005 01:43 PM

for spring break im going snowboarding for 5 day and was wondering how i should leave my lizards. Im going to feed them to their hearts desire with crickets and ill leave a bowl full of rep-cal for my beardie. I also have an Ackie. Now should i leave their cages at night temps, cooler or morning temps, hotter?
ill have a person coming in to make sure they have water but they wont touch crickets.

Can the sitters at least offer fresh greens when they check on your pets? I usually purchase a bag of pre-cut/washed mixed greens (collard, mustard and turnip) when I'm planning a trip.

It would be best to keep them on their regular light schedule..use timers if you do not already.

When we leave our neighbors will not touch live prey-- but they will feed them the canned crickets.

You did not say how old your beardies are (or I do not remember)..if they are adults they will be fine without crickets for a week...if they are juvies or younger then they really need the daily protein.

then it is perfectly fine for it to not have crickets or any other protein for the 5 days you will be gone. I'd still suggest the greens if you offer them. If your beardie is one of the rare ones that drink out of a dish then the pellets and water would probably be OK....I'd just be afraid of dehydration.

In any case--leave the lights on their regular times.
