billykiesel Mar 20, 2005 01:44 PM

Does anyone know of someone who has or sells cb Banka Bloods. All the ones I see are wild caught. Anyone have their own pics of their Banka Bloods?
Thanks

She looks really nice Ash. Who produced her, or is she farmed? Either way she is great!

K-mart,she's farmed by Bushmaster Reptiles and sold to LLL Reptile in San Diego,Ca.I got her at 1 month old. She's fun to watch grow. She was a orange baby with a red flush in her cheeks. She will be a year old this summer.

Billy

I generally refer Bankas as "Banka types" unless the lineage is very well detailed and from a reputable source, or the animal is WC and imported by a reputable source. Notice the word "reputable". I suspect that many snakes not from Banka Island are labeled Bankas because they are a deep red and have some striping. That is not to say that there aren't CB Bankas out there, I am certain there are, but locality stuff gets tricky when $$$ are involved. Bankas often command a higher price and thus people are quick to put a spin on things. The same problem occurs in Chondro pythons, Alterna, etc. etc. I have a dream to genotype all of the STP locales and "subspecies" but it seems like there is always something better to do. Until then I'll show you some pix and hope that I will have "Banka type" babies from Ruby this summer.

most of you have seen these already

Satan- a WC import from Banka Island. A truly rotten tempered snake.

Ruby-a banka "type"

Elmo-another Banka Island import. Note his color and pattern. He's from Banka but sure doesnt look like what I typically think of a Banka.

No-name. A snake I just bought from Mike Eckert. I unpacked him yesterday and snapped this quick ID picture. Is he a Banka, a Banka type or just a pretty Sumatran?

By the way, I totally got off track and forgot to answer your question. I called Bushmaster last week and they are out of bloods for the moment, but I am sure they will re-stock when the season arrives. They have a minimum order price that might be prohibitive for individual buyers. I dont know if Mike Eckert has any available but if you contact me I'll forward his email address to you.

I'm a huge fan of RED bloods. You could almost say that I teter on obssession. One thing I have to say is that you have a GORGEOUSE collection.I hope Ruby the rest of your animals produce so that I can get some babies. The hobby is only getting better with dedicated members such as yourself, SELECTIVELY BREEDING so CHOICE and PERFECT specimens such as your breeding stable.

Hey,

Those are wonderful animals! You'll have to let me know if you come across anything with that rich red blood color in the adult/subadult size. I'd love to work with one of those!

Thanks,

Steve Harrison
