i have to lamps that im using for my bd one is just a heat bulb and other is a uvb/heat bulb. im setting one up in center of enclosure and one on far right for a basking spot leaving the left side for his cool side. my question is, should i put the uvb/heat in the center clamp or use it on his basking clamp? i think i read that in order for uvb to give its source it has to be within 8 inches or so? he spends most of the time around his basking area. anyhow any replies on how to set these to lamps up would be great ty guys!

If you have a UVB/heat bulb do you mean it is a mercury vapor bulb? If it is, mercury vapor bulbs produce UVB up to 6 feet away from the bulb. If it isnt mercury vapor but produces heat, it isnt a UVB bulb.

I'd place the MVB in the basking area--because that is where you said your beardie liked to hang out the most. UVB benifits take lots of exposure--most of it direct.
