Well I would just like to say THANK YOU to all that replied in the last week on my other post.I am allowed to get a cornsnake however I have some questions becuase my mom does not want mice in the freezer so I need some other suggestions.

Also I need some answers on escapes usually everytime I go on here I find someone else has lost another snake by it escaping for its tank.I need to know why this happens becuase if it does my snake goes and I WILL DO EVERYTHING IN MY POWER FORthis not to happen but there is only soo much I can do.

Another thingsi my dad hates snakes(dont ask i try to reason but he wont listen his mind is made up)and he does not want to help me b/c he thinks it will end up at his house like my other reptiles have (1 collard and 2 leos, and the snake will stay at my moms) but only becuase he sort of fell into it i dont know whatever, all I know is it wont be there. But I would still like his help not just helping with getting supplies any suggestions.

Also I am looking for other suggestions to the rodent freezer I am thinkin a mini refrigarator or something let me know.

LET ME KNOW IF I HAVE FORGOTTEN SOMETHING ADVICE IS GOOD WEB SITES ARE GREAT AND YOUR REPLYS AND OPINIONS ARE EVEN BETTER THANKS AND GIVE ME ALLLLL THE INFO YOU HAVE

THANK YOU LATER

Frozen rodent options include: 1. Your mini-freezer idea; 2. Buying one at a time; 3. Get a friend to keep them in their freezer; 4. Get your mom to change her mind. I would get a small tupperware container & put THAT in a plastic bag & put THAT in a brown paper bag. Show your mom this combo and say, "Mom...May I please put my mice in the freezer in HERE?" Then tell her what YOU are willing to do for HER in exchange for the right to keep mice in the freezer.

Escape-resistant cages: If your cage is taller than the snake is long it is pretty hard for it to escape. Eventually, this is a criteria that is hard to meet. I put heavy objects on my screen lids and Sterilite containers. The only two escapes I have had in over 3 years was when I forgot to put the objects back on the top. Luckily, I found both snakes that same day.

As for your Dad: Educate him (and yourself). Get a book on corns (Cathy Love's book would be great!). Keep feeding him interesting facts. Show him how much YOU have learned. Either he will come around or he won't.

Good luck with your new snake. Duffy

As Duffy said the mini freezer would work fine. We moved my mini fridge from the dorms upstairs into our snake room to keep mice in. At the coldest setting the whole thing becomes a freezer so I have that much more space to freeze mice and rats for our pets. That way you're not limited to just the little part the give you for the freezer section of the fridge.
