I see alligator snapping turtles for sale from time to time in Michigan pet stores. I am fairly sure they are legal to own. I have one myself and it was fed-exed to me without problems.
Thanx for the info. Any important thing u can point out from ur personal experience in terms of their care other than the general basic info already covered in the forum? Thanx again.

I have both an alligator snapper and a common snapper. The alligator snapper is much cooler looking, like a dragon with a shell. He is much more reclusive. He only eats in pitch blackness. I have only seen him eat a few times and that was only at night with a red light on in the room. He is very shy and rarely moves at all during the day. Common snappers are much more active and readily eat anything and everything whenever its offered. I like my ally because I can't wait for him to become gigantic but overall a common snapper is much more interesting to own and easier to feed.
