"Life is a Safari"
That's not the real question. Sometimes they won't eat dead.
Why did he leave a live rat in unsupurvised is my question? No animal deserves to go through that sort of trauma.
I don't mean to be disrespectful but IMO you should slow down in you acquisitions. You say you have 49 GTP coming or just arrived. I guarantee you’re going to have feeding problems with a number of these. Some of them won’t eat live or pre-killed so you’re going to have to force or assist feed them.
You’re going from 15 animals to 64 animals in one swoop. You also state that your collection will grow to 400-500 by year’s end. Using the lower number and subtracting the ones you have mentioned that’s 35 new arrivals a month. Frankly from your postings you don’t sound qualified to handle this amount of new inventory and give the animals the care they deserve. Actually, I don’t know if anyone is?
As I said I am trying not to be disrespectful but to be honest I am having a very difficult time at it. So I had better end.

i have my girlfriend and brother helping me...
i have lots of experience in feeding picky snakes...
my boa is the only one i have not been able to switch from live to f/t...
but he did eat a pre-killed for the first time 2 days ago...
i have been doing this for years and this is my first mistake...
i posted this pick so people could be aware of the danger... not to get attacked by the room...
i know this would be a mistake of a rookie, but even us expereinced guys make mistakes....
i am sure that their are lots of people in here that have had an accident happen but they are to ashamed to own up to it...
i know i messed up, but i guarantee this will never happen again
I think they were trying to say that even 3-4 people taking care of stuff it still is a very large number of snakes for anyone to take care of not even including the ones that could give you fits trying to them to feed.I would step back and see it not as an attack but just someone who cares and was giving you some input....and yes everyone makes mistakes so you learn from them and move on......goodluck with them.
Mike
i dont think that i got into detail in this room like i did in the gtp room...
my girlfriend has brought these snakes back from europe... most of these snakes are around 1 year and to my knowledge none have any feeding problems... i have feed most f/t mice and they are doing awesome...
i do apprecieate the concern... but the site has deleated about 10 posts... and they were not polite posts...
i dont try to sound arragant... but i have been doing this for longer then most of the people in here and i know what i'm doing... to be honest i am ashamed of what happened to my red tail because he is by far my favorite out of them all...
i have a reptile room that would rival most zoo's... i am still setting up my reptile room but once i get it the way i like it i will post some pics for all to see... i have gone to alot of trouble to insure that these snakes will be cared for properly...
and to be more honest... i plan on being the top GTP breeder in the US within 5 years... i have a large collection at the moment and it will only get bigger... i have already bought a building downtown so i can keep my snakes in a nice building and not my house... the reptiles rooms are taking up 2 rooms...
i use vision cages for most of them...
i was not expecting the sly comments when i posted... i understand that its easy to look and say something mean, but if your a real experienced breeder you should understand that mistakes happen...
I love GTP so I look forward to seeing your stuff and seeingif one day my wife gives me enough allowance to get one......not that I always ask LOL.I have bben kicked out to the garge which is my reptile room and it is quiet out there so I like it alot.......we have lots of pets so I know of all the fun...good luck..............
Mike

good luck getting your GTP... they are so much fun and always fun to look at the different color patterns
thanks

If you insulate off a room you can keep them in the garage easily.. I live right outside of Wichita so I am familiar with the areas weather, and the heat of summer should be about the most difficult (but easy to deal with) issue regarding that.
I hope your snake makes a full recovery.

I've down graded alot the past few years.. I now have around a dozen various bci a small kenyan group and a few BP's. Hopefully I'll be adding some more BCI and Kenyans this year.. Not rushing it though..
