Whiptail update

Paullywog Mar 21, 2005 02:35 PM

about my whiptail....

its not really good, i dont like to say its bad. She is not waking up very fast, and is pretty skinny. I got some mealworm gut squirted into her mouth today, so she will get by for a little while. She simply refuses to eat! I got her to soak for a while a few days ago, and her color looks a lot better. I really think the main thing is dehydration. IS there anything other than water i could soak her in? THis sounds stupid, but i thought i heard something about gatorade. I'm going to soak my little baby in some warm water now.

P.S. the wierd thing is at night a little after her lights go off, she gets all alert and active looking. During the day with her lights on she is lethargic. I say"she" because her name is embarassing..Lacerta. It matches her looks though, LOL!

parasites? Worms? The fact shes lethargic, and no appetite and thin, may be indicating she has worms.

Ever have a fecal done on her? Ever have her treated after you got her?

I think I spelled it wrong too. Anyways, I shouldn't have been so quick to worry. She is going cr*p (lol) and eating a bit. WHy was I worried!? That does get me thinking, I probably should get her in and get a fecal smear done. I'll go start saving money. According to a website i found, gatorade and water in a 1:1 ratio help rehydrate, so I dropped a couple very small drops in her mouth with a syringe thingy. It seems to have helped. About that fecal exam....
