Pics of my Bairdi

john127 Mar 21, 2005 05:01 PM

Hi,

I used to be regular here a few years back, but haven't posted until recently. I started reading this board and asking questions when I first got this Bairdi, at a pet store of all places, back in November of 2000. So I guess he's around 5 years old now and doing great! I assume he's a Texas, correct?
Anyway, just wanted to show him off, he's beautiful!

I thought it might be a Mexican too, but after looking at pics of Mexicans, I noticed that the heads on the Mexicans are more of a solid gray. If you notice, my Bairdi has some orange near the mouth.

Please correct me if I'm wrong about a Mexican having a solid gray head.

Looks to me like maybe a west Texas locality. I'd say a texas baird with lots of yellow coloration, but I've never kept mexicans before. Maybe someone who's had both can give their opinion.

Overall, I'd say it looks like a texas bairdi but that straw yellow colour extending so far down makes me wonder if maybe it has some mexican in it's heritage.
