Vision Cages & Bearded Dragons....How do you all feel?

XSamX Mar 21, 2005 05:59 PM

I'm considering purchasing a few more dragons and am beginning to think about my caging options. Building custom enclosures for each dragon is not something I'd like to do and I'm not fond of aquarium style housing. The vision 332 model looks pretty decent. Its dimesions are 36 X 28 and it comes with a build in 18 inch flourescent fixture. In addition it allows for a small ceramic heating element. The thing is, I'm not sure if multiple units will be stackable when lighting is applied. How does this work? Do any of you use vision cages for your adult beardies? What are your opinions? Thanks.

Visions are solid cages. They are stackable - the space for a heating lamp is recessed or inverted. They are ventilated well but you can easily limit that if you wish. They are almost unbreakable and I believe they just introduced a long model (about 4 ft.) that could work well for beardies for $199 delivered last time I checked. They can be added to and modified pretty easily also. They are certainly good cages.

Good luck,

Ian

I think this pic says it all. BTW the new 4' economy cages are not tall enough for BDs.

Wow, super nice set up there. what vision series is that the 322's? I use the 322's for my ornate uromastyx. I love visions I have the 48x28x28 for my beardies and they seem super happy.

Depending on the size and number of BDs, I use the 2,3 and 4 footers

Yea they work fine. I have not switched over all my cages yet but I recomend mounting the UVB strip on the wall next to the basking light rather than mounting it to the drop vent area in the middle. I keep the cages bare now, no substrate and find it is easier to keep clean. I use chlorhexidine to wipe them down after every poop.

Even though I keep some snakes in there too, I call it my lizard lounge (used to be my family room).

Bennett, really, thats amazing. Love the vines and flowers. I'm up to 23 enclosures now spread all over the house and basement. I hate it. I'm working on one room in the basement maybe two to eventually hold everything. I run myself crazy trying to take care of everything. I bought 2 vision cages 4ft. by 28in and I think 18in. high. There used but in very good shape. They were like 150 each which I thought was a fair price.
They're actually for my boa's when they get bigger but I'm really tempted to use them for my dragons. Anyway, you have a wonderful set up. Its so clean and orderly, so unlike mine..LOL.
Take care,
Karen

The new 4' for $200 shipped are great for terrestrial snakes like boas. They are short so you can stack them 4 or 5 high. A heat pad under each one and you are good to go. Use the ones you have for your BDs and get the new ones for your Boas. You'll be happier. I hope to start changing mine over next season.
