Help with mites!!!!!

jeffq Mar 21, 2005 08:29 PM

I have picked up a adult female iguana that was a resuce and I am fighting mites. She has red and black mites and I have been using repltile relief but I need some more help. I spray and wipe her down and clean out cage and wipe with reptile relief. Any suggestions would be a great help....

My Zadey had a mite problem a year ago, too. I bought Provent-a-mite and Reptile Relief, but only got around to using the Provent-a-mite since it worked so well. :D Really, the mites were dead within a day, and were completely gone in a week. oo; That's some powerful stuff. xD

Hi,i've got mite trouble too... that stuff you talk about is probably illegal over here!
all the possible solutions for a battle agains Mites is a no go here. Even the sticky paper rolls for cathcing flies are forbidden.

I have to rescued igguanas. i've been batteling mite ever since i took m in. With my other iggy i never had this problem.

Maybe someone has some tips?
the dutch herpist say i must use fleaspray for there cages. Ive done this twice, and kept the iguana's away in the shower for a while. But it only solved the problem for a little while

There's tons of information here: http://www.anapsid.org/mites.html

You don't have to use products designed to kill mites. Betadine (Povidone-Iodine) baths are recommended for the ig itself, and a good disinfectant for thoroughly cleaning the cage. There's lots of information in that link
