Dry spots..not shed...any ideas

GeckoKidd Mar 21, 2005 11:06 PM

I noticed my 1 yr old male seems to have a few small dry spots.I hadn't noticed them untill I saw one on a black spot.I checked the 3 females in the tank w/ him and 1 seems to have a few as well. They all had fecals done 6 months ago and were fine.I tried a warm soak and they aren't shed! They are big and healthy. He is 9 1/2 inches and 84 g. and she is a little over 8 inches and 73 g. before her last clutch.Any idea what it is??? Should get a vet appointment or is it just dry skin? Before you ask ...YES ... I have a 50 gal tank, temps are good(80 cool , 91 hot), and 4 humid hides and 3 cool hides.Any replies apperciated...

It is from then niping each other (likly breeding behavior) or even them walking over each, the nails will even make some of those marks.
Nothing to worry about it will go away the next shed.

I agree with Sara . . I have seen leos with those marks and it often times is a result of nibbling and nipping, also known as "love bites." LOL . . . 50 gallons gives them plenty of space to avoid one another so I am sure it just has to do with breeding.
Good Luck with the eggs!
