Question about Turnip greens/tops.......

Iguanamom Mar 22, 2005 09:12 AM

Hi. I have a question about turnip greens/tops. I sent hubby to pick up greens last time and he came back with a bunch of turnip tops and a bunch of turnip greens. I didnt realize these were two different items. They did look different too, one being longer than the other. SO are these both ok for iggys? Anyone know? And has anyone ever found info on herbs? I have a herb garden in the summer and have been wondering about throwing in some basil, oregano, chives etc. I did find where Parsley is ok, as a occassional food. But thats the only one i have found listed. Oh im not sure if i read on here or another board, but someone said they use a baby brush on their ig and he really seemed to like this, also helped with getting shed off. Well i gave this a try and Ozzy seems to like it. My hubby thought i had lost it lol. He says um dear your brushing the iguana, have you noticed he doesnt have any hair? lol I did it real lightly, and it seemed to help get off some of the loose shed, and he seemed to like it. Also just measured him, which i hadnt done in quite awhile, and hes 3 1/2 feet long now. I was a little surprised didnt realize he was quite that long. Well thanks for any help you have. Tami

I feed both to my babies. They are high in calicum and she likes them both. Check out greenigsociety.org they have a great food list.

My vet encourages the feeding of herbs. He says some igs are picky and wont eat them. After much begging and pleading I got my guys to eat Basil. They will also eat a bit of cilantro if we are cooking with it and I chop it up very very very finely and sprinkle ti over their food. If you have any concerns about anything you are feeding I suggest consulting with your vet.
