Barneck lays her eggs....

YAsser Mar 22, 2005 09:31 AM

She just started early this morning. Only a handful are out now and I am sure she's got a long way to go.
So far so good....no infertiles!

Here's the final pics.
This first pic was taken about three hours after I first found her laying. She had only three eggs out at that point.

Then I came back to find she was done laying and had begun her shortlived incubation....

So I stole her eggs...it was not easy. She was already well rested and fierced defending her eggs. She struck at me 3 times before I even got the cage door open. I grabbed a hook and placed her head in the right angle and promptly grabbed head just behind the head with my other hand. She quickly responded by pulling her coils easily off the eggs and onto my arm shoulder and chest. Oh, and I can't foget the musk that was rubbed on my neck and sweater. I can smell it right now still.
When she was unraveled from me and put back in her cage, she was even more PO'ed but she left us with this....

Unbelievable! A female that only gave us three fertile eggs last year gives us 17 FERTILES AND NOT A SINGLE INFERTILE! (Something we have never had from any of the scrubs we were lucky enough to get eggs from)
I personally am amazed...forgive my excitement.
The clutch weighed 1426 grams and all are perfect in every way.

And to think we figured this was a clutch that may not even be coming....
