Poop or regurge?

wilson-ck Jul 09, 2003 11:19 AM

I know this question is asked all the time, but how do you know the difference between a poop and a regurg? Can poop be squishy, or is it always hard?

I fed my 8 month old BP 72 hours previous to handling him, then the next day I found what looks like multiple meals in his cage. It stank, but I don't know if that means for sure it is a regurge.

Thanks! CKW

Do you always poop hard, or can you poop 'squishy' (say, after mexican food, or McDonalds)? Yeah, it is most probably poop. If it looks partially undigested, i.e. you can make out what used to be a rat/mouse, then it's probably regurg. Chances are, if you left the little guy alone for the whole time, and he wasn't handled or stressed, he's just a fast pooper. Feed him again, and thank your lucky stars.

Sounds like a poop. Regurges...the like twice I have had it happen, have been nasty, barely digested, identifiable as what you fed and really nasty smelly. As opposed to the nasty smell of poop of course. And poop looks like poop, not mice/rats.
I have a black ratsnake that poops our odd corkscrews of fur once and a while.
Look at the overall animal. You aren't gonna feed him again this second anyway so he will have time to recoop if it is an upset. If it is an issue feed him a smaller meal next and see.
