vanishing pattern extreme hypo

rtdunham Mar 22, 2005 02:47 PM

this is a male, 03 hatch, produced by mike alvarez from the female i now have (pic will be posted later today) and a male that's passed on. He's been a slow grower so won't breed this year but should be a great resource next year. Note you can click on the link below the photo to see a second view.

My faverite, I like the vanishing pattern on him, you are going to produce some nice vanishing pattern exteme hypos nest season. Thanks Scott Glover

That's a two-part question!

As for extremes, we don't know for sure what their mode of inheritance is, so we can't say for sure whether we'll produce any. But based on the limited results of breedings so far, yes, it's likely i'll produce some extremes.

The pattern morphs are not simple recessives so while the whole hypo line seems disposed to a higher occurrence of pinstripes and vanishing patterns than is the case with normals, it's not predictable like the recessive color morphs are. So maybe some vanishing patterns, maybe not, have to wait and see.
