Been a while......need a couple of answers please

southernpawsc Mar 22, 2005 04:28 PM

Hi there, I joined here almost 2 yrs ago when we obtained a baby RES. I lived on this forum trying to learn it all for weeks->months.

Now, it's been quite some time, so I need a little brushing up.

FOOD: I understand not to give spinach, and understand that other DARK leafy greens are fine. Are there any other leafy greens or veggies that I should stay away from?

DIET: We think he's a male. By the age of 2, he should mainly be on a veggie diet correct? With some protein once in a while? Would this diet need to strictly be greens or any veggie?

Only 2 more, ok?

Nevermind......to make it easier to answer, I'll post a separate message.

Thanks,
Christi

You can still give some protein, a small amount maybe twice a week or so. Greens or aquatic plants are good. Anything in the lettuce family is good to avoid, they are just lower in nutrients then other greens.

Weeeell, since I don't keep many leafy greens (other than Romaine and fresh spinach) in the house, I guess helping his diet, will in turn help ours a bit.

Is yellow squash good or nutritious for him? He loves the zucchini we put in for the pleco.
