Can my iguana be saved

TimmyZ Mar 22, 2005 05:11 PM

I have an 7 year old iguana.

I put him in a warm tub every couple of days for a bath and when I went to put him in Sunday night, he started to act strange. He twitched and flipped over and froze up stiff as a board and lay upside down. I mean he was hard as a rock from head to toe and wasn't breathing. I thought he was dead from a heart attack and I called my wife in and she agreed he was dead.

As we walked away (the tub was not filling with water yet) we heard a sound and he started moving again.

Even though he is alive still, he is much different. He won't eat or drink and his arms and legs are twitching constantly. He is starting to get gaunt looking and I'm pretty sure he won't make it.

Is there anything I can do for him? I think he might have had a stroke. Should I let him pass on or should I try to force feed him liquids?

Any suggestions? I'm not sure what to do now.

the only thing i can sugest is to take him to a vet. also if you wouldnt mind teling us a bit about how you keep him it may help us guess at what might be wrong. what is his diet? cage set up? lighting? use calcium supplement? uvb lights? temps?
good luck. i hope he makes it. -brandy
