Herping Ridgecrest

Hello Forum,

Does anyone know of any good spots around Ridgecrest? I'm looking for a lyre snake.

Many years ago I camped at the trona pinnacles and headed north from there the next morning towards some sand dunes and an entrance to death valley (I forget the names). One part of the trip was up a small rocky pass. Saw some incredible red diamonds there. Does anyone know that spot? Oh yeah, I also saw my first sidewinder when I hit the valley.

Thanks for the help,
Ray

I could be wrong, but I think those were Speckleds.

They might have had a reddish tinge.

You can rock flip rosies this time of year.

Lyres are hard to rock flip. You could try finding some cap rocks or peering way down in the rck crevices.

When it gets hot you can night drive lyres out that way.
