Man, that sucks. Sorry to hear that. I had my hopes up too.
Last year, I had a real crappy year producing a buttload of slugs too. I think my issue was introducing so many pairs so late.
I found that I'm most successful when
-I use multiple males (and rotate them)
-Begin introductions earlier than other hobbyists
-Pull the males only when I am comfortably confident that the females are gravid.
Just to give you an idea, during breeding season I only seperate snakes during feeding. This insures a male's presence at the time she ovulates (whenever that may be).
Your problems (I think) are related to fertilization/conception. Your females are ovulating and shelling. I have to wonder if it's a "timing" issue on introductions or if it's your male. Sputatrix may prove more prolific w/ environment manipulation.
The female king has built two nests, in addition to a box that I've put in there. She shed about 5 days ago, so I'm expecting them anyday.

# 1 when it comes to producing infertile eggs out of Naja species. Latest infertile clutch was 14 from my Naja sputatrix (White/leucistic)....LOL. I can't win with Naja breeding, but at least I don't have to worry about who is buying them.
The most I ever got out of a pair of Naja was two great clutches in two years, then many infertile clutches for many years in a row after that. Seems I can get an average of one good clutch, then nothing but infertile clutches there after. Any ideas, or ever had this problem before? It has happened with many species of Naja for me, not just one, I'm stumped.
Thanks,
The infertilizer
