raisnok Mar 22, 2005 10:38 PM

to look for additional things i might need for naaza.
i bought him/her a stone water dish, and better hide than the one i had, i had a small box, i bought a half log hollowed out, i left them both in there for the time being he seems to prefer the log.
ok now i want to know if any one here has ever used the heating cables by zoo med? im thinking about using one of those because if you can wrap them around a branch, i can also use them on my wooden enclosure?? i went to a different pet shop today and the girl claimed she knew everything about corn snakes, but she was trying to sell me a hot rock, and sand as a substrate....
so i figure i wont go there and ask many questions.their reptile secton was very small to and not alot of choices, theres another shop here in town im going to try, they specialize in boas and pythons, so i figure they have to have a pretty good reptile section

I have never used the heating cables but I would be hesitatnt to use them inside the tank. I would maybe run them back and forth accros one end of the bottom. I would worry about the snake getting burned with it inside. Similar to what can happen with a heat rock.
I hope the rock water dish is large enough for you snake to get in. You always want a water dish large enough for them to soak in if they so desire.
I would turn the half-log at an angle so your snake can have a little privacy if he cooses to use it.
When you have them wide open towards the front of the tank they don't tend to spend much time there.

i agree with you about the cables in the enclosure, i was thinking about putting them underneath the tank, well the enclosure since i am thinking about using the wooden box cage, i was wondering should i seal the wood or any thing?

yes i bought a rock bowl that he could fit his entire body in.
