Random college/snake rant

domingoakasunday Mar 23, 2005 02:54 PM

ok, a little background. Last year I moved into an apt. at my college due to food allergies. In this apt. I was allowed to have pets. I went through all proper channels and bought 2 ball pythons (one of which is a male 100% albino). Now the rules are changing and the apt.s are going to be under the same rules as the on campus housing... which means they say I have to lose the snakes. I was on a lease but now nothing will be in my name and everything will be included with room and board. Anyone know any ways I can fight this?

I used to keep tons of snakes and spiders in my old dorm. Just hide them or put them in a room or closet with the door shut. It is illegal for anyone on campus to search your apartment unless they have suspicions, don't give them any.

I knew someone that kept a pit bull in a college dorm. Like TraceH said, dont give the college any trouble to where they would search the apartment, dont get on anyone's badside that may rat you out. Have you talked about leaving them with a trusted friend or family member until your lease is up? I am sorry you are in that situation, I would be heartbroken if someone told me to lose my animals, then again, I wont live somewhere that will tell me what I can and cannot have! Good luck!

Hi! I have been keeping my ball python in the dorms for the entire year. I just put his tank underneath my desk and I haven't had any problems. My neighbors JUST realized there was something underneath my desk a few days ago and they were shocked to know that he's been there all year. Luckily, they're really cool about it and now they want to come over and play with him. Chances are, you're not gonna be able to do anything about it if the university is changing all the rules. If you really don't wanna part with your snake (which I know you don't ) just keep him out of sight. Besides, if they DO realize he's there (which I'm almost 100% sure they wont unless someone spills), the worst they can do is give you 24 hours to get rid of him and give you a warning. Good Luck!
