Results-Herping Perris, CA 03/22/05

reiley Mar 23, 2005 04:29 PM

Here are the results for herping Perris, CA
Plenty of lizards, but unfortunately no snakes

3 Long-tailed Brush Lizards
3 Western Fence Lizards
5 Granite Spiny Lizards

The fences were a bit too fast for me to get a picture of, but I have pictures of some brush lizards and some granite spinys as well as other items (some of which are not technically herp related, but hey it is all in the fun).

Here is a photo of one of the Longtailed Brush Lizards that I saw (at least I am pretty sure that is what they are).

Here are some caps that were shifted from someone who got there before I did. The good thing is that for the most part they put them back instead of kicking them off the rock.

I flipped over a board and much to my surprise I found this birds nest hidden under it.

Here is a centipede that I found under a board. He was actually one of the smaller ones that I saw (only about 3in), but he is the one who held still.

This is probably the biggest Jeruselum Cricket that I have ever seen (about 1in long) although there is probably bigger.

And these Sticky Monkey Flowers are now in bloom. I took a picture of a red one too, but it did not turn out.

Here is a nice female Granite Spiny Lizard.

Those look like Side-blotched Lizards (Uta), not Urosaurus.

I also thought so at first, however the scales were wrong and there is not spot of any kind on the neck. They are also kind of large for a side blotch.

Here is a picture of a Uta I found yesterday.

I find that the best way to wash a vehicle is in the mud.
