The only water in there is a small water dish. This is way to high isn't it? How do I get it lower? There is a small hole in the back where I slide in the thermostat probe.

At 99% humidity it is raining in there. Something does not sound right...

I opened the door and waited and it droped. The longer I waited the lower it got. After about 5min it was at 80%. When the door is closed there is some condensation on the glass. I do not understand this at all. I just got my boaphile and before that I had a aquarium that was hard to keep the humidity just at 50%. I'm using the same substrate and same water dish.
What are you using for substrate..water? Are you putting the water bowl over the heat?
Baker's Boas
I think the substrate is called jungle mix. I felt it to feel if it was damp and it feels fine. The water dish is as far away from the heat as you can get. What can I do? I definitly do not want to drill holes.
I would try changing the bedding before drilling holes...what are you keeping in there? Try using Aspen. NOT PINE OR CEDAR!

I reached in the bag of substrate and it was kind of damp. It was a new bag, but I used a little substrate I had left over from my previous bag and it was much drier. I am going to put my boa in another cage and keep the door to the boaphile open for the night. That should dry it out.
with my 421D Boaphiles because they maintain humidity so well. Normally it wasn't an issue but if the animal went in to soak in the water dish the displaced water would spill out over the substrate and there would be condensate all over the glass. Knocked over water dishes was another cause. I finally sold off the cages and went with Visions. They don't hold humidity nearly as well but I decided to humidify the entire room and that way not have to worry about the level of each individual cage.
