My baby gator problem

reptileguy5 Mar 23, 2005 07:18 PM

Okay this is so horrible. My parents got my a baby gator and stunted its growth! Hes almost 6 and is under 2 feet! I feel so horrible. Hes in a 100 gallon, eats everyday (chicken/fish) is warm (temps are 80 degrees in room and about 95 basking) and warm water. Does anyone know how I can get him to grow? PS I catn take him to a vet due to a new ordinance in my area banning them and I dont want him taken.

What happended was until last year they would not allow me to put him in a bigger cage. Hes been stuck in a 10 gallon I asked if we could give him away a few times because I felt bad for him in the cage and they said no but now they let me buy his new cage (the 100 gal.)

Keeping him in a 10 gallon tank will not stunt his growth. It can cause other health defects, but it will not stunt his growth. Lack of temps and food will stunt his growth. It appears to me that he wasn't getting other things as well. Well, in my opinion. If this is truly your parents fault for doing this, I would leave it up to them to deal with his health issues. After they get in trouble for it, I am sure that will teach them a lesson.

Its up to you but if your parents are being a pain (which we all know they can be) and you trully care for the animal....it might be a good idea to call the ASPCA...just an idea...but your parents will be pissed!!! Just ask the aspca not to give your name to them. Otherwise you will be to take charge and give the animal some good old TLC!
