Shedding and feeding question

schwartzenstobe Mar 23, 2005 09:12 PM

hello, everyone I have noticed my jackson's appetite has changed. he was 4 months when i got him and he would eat 10 small crickets in a day. now he is 6 months and he is up to the mediums. sometimes 5 a day or one a day any way do chams lose there appetite when the shed? today i woke up and his face was shedding alot. i thought the shed had something to do with the appetite lose. he is in a 3x3x2 cage basking temp of 85, amdient of 75-80. sprayed 3 times a day and dripper going for a least 5 hours. thanks matt. i also feed him wax worms( as a treat) mealies and beetles, supers. i am looking into silkies and roaches also. thanks matt

My chams when they shed lose apetite and usually eat less. If it continues then you might want to start being concerned. Also as cham's grow they eat less, as the prey becomes bigger and they don't need to eat so much as they grow less.

just a note - go a little easy on the beetles as many are difficult to digest b/c of the hard exoskeleton. Also, most have minimal nutrition. As a treat, or something for him to chase, around is fine.
