Roaches and crickets

I know that crickets are incredibly susceptible to any type of insectiside being anywhere near them, but what about scented candles or air fresheners, will they croak if i've got a scented candle going in their room?

I have heard that both can be lethal to crickets and roaches. I keep my stuff in a special room and I'm not really sure how much it would take to kill them.
