marla Mar 24, 2005 03:41 AM

my girl myrtle has finally laid her first batch of eggs! i know there are tons of these posts, and i don't even know if they're viable yet, but i'm so proud i could burst! i've never had eggs before, and at last the moment has arrived! eee! so excited!

they're in the incubator now, good thing i had it set up in advance.

Congratulations! I remember when my leos laid eggs for the first time I wasn't expecting them at all but I walked in to my room just in time to watch her lay them. I was such a proud gecko mom! I hope they hatch, good luck. You'll have to post pics if they do.

thanks! even if they are infertile, i'm still very proud. and also glad that my girl myrtle appears no worse for the wear (other than being cranky).

i'm so excited, and amazed- i went to check them again, and give them a quick candle. and i noticed again the strange 'reddish spot' on each one. and i could have sworn it was some kind of strange dye transferred by the moss, since, when i removed them from the lay chamber, the moss just happened to be adherred to those two spots. but then i realized the spots had grown! they are the embryos! :D i'm so amazed. of course, myrtle is the kind of gecko i'd expect to insist on having a fertile clutch right off the bat. she's such a princess, she's probably saying, 'well, if you're going to make me breed, look what i can do! hmph!' so exciting! striped snows, here i come!
