they won't eat it. Waxworms feed on wax and honey in beehives. They are serious pests of honeybees so make sure you don't allow any adults escape outside.
You can make a mix of honey, beeswax (available at health food stores) and bran or oatmeal and glycerin (avail at pharmacies) to use for their substrate, food and pupating medium.

Lele, you have a pet named Skipper?
What happened to your (semi) strict naming convention of mandatory ending with 'a'. A female form, which meant basically that all your pets were female. I would've thought you would have changed this name to Skippa...
I was gonna suggest a name for your Chilean Rose, but being that you're no longer following your own naming conventions, 'Nonama' wouldn't make sense as a name suggestion for your tarantula.

see, this is what happens when you get out of the loop!! Last summer (yes, you HAVE been gone a long time) I was asked to care for a friend's AFC and 5 Mad. Hissers when she went north for the summer. She just retired from teaching and had them in the classroom. Well, summer turned into fall and we now have joint custody - LOL!! Her students named him - actually, I call him Skippy-doodle
My cat Kyndra loves to watch him buzz around and come up for food. She just sits next to his tank and watches him.
It is only the females that I got into that "a" thing after I realized I was doing unintentionally. My male pygmy cham was Bart (as in Simpson - looked just like him!). It's sort of a relief to have some boys around the house so I don't have to stick to the "a" ending. All the hissers are girls (2 have died
) but I have not named them - yet! The beardie I am getting is a boy and he was born with a kinked tail - Sonia calls him Sum Ting Wong - I just call him Kinky!
Hey, Nonama just might work! My problem with naming her is b/c of my pinktoe that I used to have. her name was Tula Rose (OK, sort of mixed it up a bit) and I called her many variations - well, I am calling the Chilean all those same "Rose" nicknames. I feel bad - she is 7 or 8 years old and the previous owner never named either one. Natasha came from the Who song "Boris the Spider" which then made me think of Rocky and Bullwinkle's Boris and Natasha - a normal transition - no?
lele
btw, living in New England many folks (with their funny accent) will say his name as Skippa anyway! lol!!

My Chilean rose that I had I called Shelob- from LoTR, the spider that attacks Frodo and Sam. I would give the crickets that I was feeding Shelob either Hobbit, Orc or Elf names as a little inside joke.
.... Okay Celegorn, time to introduce you to your date for the night, Shelob. Shelob, say hello to Celegorn, your dinner date...
Bernie and the kids called her Rosie. Really a nice tarantula, that is, if you weren't a cricket.
Speaking of inverts- I just heard that exotic mantids have been banned in the United states. Remember how I was hopping mad about not being able to keep phasmids? See, so it starts and spreads....
