Gecko Food Question

silversunkiss9 Jul 09, 2003 01:13 PM

My geckos love insects (they will eat mealworms too, but go for crickets mostly), but I really dislike crickets and always am buying more. I just ordered some true death head (blaberus craniifer) roaches. Whenever the colony is large enough, will the young roaches be healthy for my geckos to replace crickets? They'll still get crickets occasionally and mealies at every meal.

Thanks

I imagine the young roaches whose shells are not as hard as the adults' would be fine for your leos. I myself do not feed crickets that often because of the hassle.

As long as the shells aren't too hard on that species, roaches are great food for herps.
