paper towels

My local petco keeps thier baby leos on reptibark!? and how many inches/centimeters of paper towel/reptibark should be inbetween the UTH and th leo???

You only need 2-3 "layers" of papertowel between your leo and the UTH. However, what you definitely need is a rheostat or a thermostat to keep the UTH at the right temp (say, 88-90 degrees).

I also put more PT on the poop corner.

PS: A petstore will keep leos on repti-bark or whatever because it looks nicer then PT and is more likely to attract buyers (especially impulse buyers and/or those who know nothing about leos) ... try to buy from a private breeder.

Sadly, Petco doesn't really do many things right when it comes to pet care. Repti-bark is dangerous to leos...they could eat a piece of it and choke. Pet stores' top priorities are to make the animals look good (hence a nice looking enclosure) and sell them, sometimes at the risk to the animals themselves. Use paper towels, it is much safer. I use a single layer of paper towels since the UTH should be on a temp control devide anyway.
