I apologize, I forgot to introduce myself

Hello, I'm Derek Moynihan, I live in San Antonio, Tx. I have always liked bullsnakes/pinesnakes ever since I visited my former boss's collection (Alan Kardon) and saw all of his huge and colorful jani and deppei deppei. I never realized the pituophis could get that big. I have been all over west and south texas and have found many bulls but I have yet to find a really monstrous live bull (seen plenty of dead ones). I finally decided to acquire some CB bulls so I picked up a pair of albinos from a dealer. I was happy with my purchase except for the mites (see other post). I have been lurking on this forum for a while and I must say I have seen some spectacular pituophis and I wonder how they escaped my attention before.

Derek,
If you have some sheckles put aside you might want to get on Ron's list for his reds. I have a pair and they get better looking each shed. And they get BIG!!!!! Also, John Cherry, Shannon Brown and Jason of Envy Reptiles will be breeding Hwy 77 Monster Bulls this year. John also has a line of So. Tx Bulls that get big. There are alot of potential biguns out there. But I don't think you can beat Ron's reds for both size and color. But hey, I'm predjudice!!!! That's my $.02!

Thanks for the info. Ron's reds sound interesting. Does he have a website or do you have a way to contact him?

Welcome!

I would definently love to see some pics of some wild bulls. When I was first getting into snakes, living at that time in north Austin, and I came across what must have been a big bullsnake, although it was nearly all white/tan in coloration, very beautifull. I found it because I heard a mouse screaming, then saw the snake holding the mouse high up in the air in its mouth. The snake saw me, then traveled about 20 feet with the mouse. It then released the mouse and took off into the tall grasses nearby. I was too scared to go after that snake, but a few minutes later I heard the snake catch the mouse again - I didn't mess with it that time. That's a story i'll never forget.

Just got done feeding my '04 IL bull. You will really love these snakes! Here's a pic of her before shedding with my camera phone.
