Can this girl be a hypo?? Or just a nice pastel??

ajfreptiles Mar 24, 2005 09:57 PM

Here is my next female to be. I have seen some orange tail hypos that looked similar to her. She is due in a few days, but I took some pics just to see what everyone thought. She may just be a high pink to red pastel normal, but She has gold orange eyes and red/gold saddles. Let me know your opinions...it will be interesting to find out what she is. Thanks Andy

John, Thanks for the input. How can you tell? I agree I really thought high pink and red normal, but those saddles just being so void of black got me wondering. Is there a way to look at them and just know for sure? Thanks Andy

Although I don't think she is a hypo, she is a stunning animal. VERY clean, and pretty light for her size. I would like to see pictures of her ,pre-breeding season, as I am sure she was even lighter before she got knocked up.

I totally agree about the term Pastel being used way too much, but look at the criteria for what classifies a boa as a Pastel. It basically amounts to a trait from selective breeding....that is why everyone seems to have pastels in their colections.

Here is another thing that blows my mind...I see alot of boas that I would never call a Pastel, *** but because they are out of a proven pastel bloodline so called ***....they wear the term proudly, and I would not give a hundred bucks for one.

The term is very selective in my opinion, and if a pastel has babies, I do not think they are all pastels...only a select few.
