Having problems with baby Borneos...

chaoscat Mar 24, 2005 11:22 PM

Ok, my other two Borneos are doing Great! However, the two I picked up at the show are having problems.

One ate TWICE and refused every other time. The other one has not eaten ANYTHING. I don't handle them except to clean their cages. They are in small sweaterbox containers, as shoeboxes are way too small for them.

I have tried live, thawed, rats, mice. NOTHING. Neither will eat. Both shy away from food. I've tried leaving it in overnight. NOTHING. It's been over a month for the one, and she's getting thin. What do I do???

Have you tried a rat pup, something that moves slowly but is still alive???? I know if the mice I feed move to quick my girl spooks, but she won't touch anything that isn't alive.

Other than that, you'll have to get help from the experts

Hey,
You might want to find your self a poultry place and see if they can give you some chick down. That's right, chick down! that is a technique we use to feed stubborn baby chondros when all else fails. Just place a wet rat pup or small mouse into the chick down and let some of the down stick to it. It might just be the answer to a stubborn borneo or two.

In life you can fall many times, but you're only a failure, if you don't try to get back up!

Try a fresh kill rat pup and or a small mouse and slice open his skin above or by the shoulder. Some stubborn eaters of other snakes you have to do the brain split, but I've had success just with a little cut to get them to smell some flesh.Leave it in overnight and not on the heat side and it starts to smell quick. Were they cb and what were they being fed by the person you bought from.

They are CB and I have the feeding cards that came with them. Their cards say they were eating well. One would only take live for the guy.
