Update on my Baby leopard gecko that wasn't walking good

babyleopardgecko Mar 25, 2005 01:32 AM

Hey everyone,
Ok, so my leo is now starting to walk better! I just noticed this today. Should I still take him to the vet? Or see if he keeps getting better and better on his own? He still has not gone to the bathroom though. I tried putting him in a tupperware container and giving him a little warm soak, but number 1, i don't think I had the water warm enough, number 2 he seemed very scared in there and didnt like it, and number 3, he's also had some skin that never shed on his toes, so I was trying to get that off too. I can't get it off, and he doesn't like when I'm trying to pull his toes. What should I do about that?
Also, the tip of his tail has been red for the past couple of weeks too. What do you think that could be?

And to answer the one question Britney had asked, no his legs don't feel like jelly and they don't seem limp, so I don't know?

Thanks so much for everyone's feedback, keep it coming! You're all making my little Arnold get back to health!

if he hasnt pooped he needs to go to the vet asap. Poop can only build up in the system for so long before it will kill the little guy, and it seems like this has been going on for awhile. Also if you have other health concerns it definately sounds like time to bring him to the vet. Please don't delay...

good luck!

Hey,

Okay.. This sounds like impaction on it's own if his legs aren't very wobbly. Take him to a vet as soon as possible, your local reptile vetrinarian should be able to suggest/give you something to help with his condition. He/She may even suggest the small amount of mineral spread on the lips like I did, this will really help to pass the blockage.. Also, as for the nonshed skin on his toes.. Do you provide a humid hide(I might have asked you before, but I'm sooo tired right now I forget, lol)? Those are totally necessary in the aid of skin shedding! Anyway, get the little guy to a vet and then check back with us after the vet has given you some insight or any medication.

i haven't read your previous posts, but it sounds like he still, very much so, needs to see a vet. also, it doesn't matter if he struggles and bites, you MUST get the skin off of his toes. get him to a herp vet.
