Giant Waxy Tree Frogs & (Painted belly) Waxy Tree Frogs

alphaeus Mar 25, 2005 03:51 AM

I just realized that they are two different species (Pyllomedusa bicolor & Pyllomedusa sauvagi).
Because usually people just call them Waxy Monkey Tree frogs.

I just acquired a baby (painted belly) Waxy Tree Frog, he's very interesting to watch. The way they walk is just amazing.

I'm just wondering, if next time I want to get GIANT Waxy tree Frog, Will they be able to live together? better to separate them?

and Is there any sites that has great information about them?
Thanks!

If there is a large size difference then the smaller may be food. (Don't miss judge this as I'm sure you know that frogs will try to eat rather large prey) Other things to consider are competition for food and space. Multi species enclosures are best done when overly large and well planted. Proper quarantine procedures for any new animals should definately apply.

Have fun with your frogs

Hey
Phyllomedusa Bicolor (Giant Waxy Money Frogs)
Heres a care sheet for ya!

As far as I know these guys are REALLY hard to find, but GL to you if you do. They are also for very experienced froggers. I remember seeing some WC ones at a reptile show in PA, and boy they were HUGE!!! I may not be remebering conrectly but they had to be at least 7" long. I would say you would need to keep these guys on their own, they would definitly eat something smaller than them (which is pretty much everything).
Good Luck to you!
