Bulging eye on my veiled chameleon!!!

SkynetT800 Mar 25, 2005 08:33 AM

I have had my veiled chameleon for just over 2 years now and everything has been perfect. hes in a 4' by 2' by 2' home and has all the proper uvb bulbs and such. about 3 months ago his eye looked like it was starting to shed. it seemed to be taking longer then usual but thought nothing of it. Then it seemed to bulge out a bit, and it sort of looks like its always about to shed. And from time to time its produces a fluid that closes over his eye. i clean it off gently with warm water but it wont go away! I have no vets near me that take lizards. So i was wondering if anyone has ever heard of this? ANY INPUT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. thanx.

Could be that he has an eye infection. I HIGHLY reccommend seeking out a herp vet. If there isn't one in you immediate area, please expand your search. Try your local animal shelter for a list of qualified herp vets in your area.
Yes, you might have to travel a ways off, but this is something that a vet needs to take care of.

I agree...this needs an experienced vet. I doubt very much the forum can help with this one, and eyes are not worth risking damage to.
