20 long aquarium big enough for young adult BP?

ndolson Mar 25, 2005 09:22 AM

I just got a female BP from fedex about an hour ago. I'm at work, and havent had a chance to totally pull her out to look at her, but she is approximately 2 feet, and with the small peak I got at her, probably 3 feet or so, nice girth. Is the 20 gallon long going to be big enough for her, or should I take it back to petco and go ahead and get the 40 gallon?

i think the 20long is a little small for an adult

go with the 40 breeded, it is bigger, more rrom for him/her to move around.you could also go with the 30 breeeded same length and with just 2 inches shorter, but rember those clips,

hope it helps

Yeah, I was leaning towards the 40, I just needed someone to nudge me in that direction. My current male right now is a little less than a year old, and the 20 long he is in fits him perfect, for now at least. This girl is a lot bigger, and I wouldnt feel right having her in a cage that didnt give her some room to stretch.

i dont no if it is true,
if the snake cango around the long side(like the front or back) and either half or the full side(left or right) he needs a new tank, i have my female bbay in the 40 breeded bc she was in a 10 for like a week when i got her then just moved her up she cant even cover the front of the tank she is like 2/3 the fron(like 24-28 inches).

thanks bye

For $8 or less get a Rubbermaid 90 quart. Just add air holes to the lid. Light weight and easy to clean. Paint the sides and back with a coating of gesso, sold in art stores, to give them the privacy they crave. Dries in minutes and non-toxic.

I've thought of that, but I like to display my BP's for visitors. My male doesnt seem to have any problem being in a glass aquarium, he's not in a high traffic area and even comes out of his hide to say "Hi" if I get my face up to the glass.

Now once I start breeding, I will probably use some kind of rack system using rubbermaid containers.

The 30 or 40 gallon would be most appropriate for an adult ball.
