When to switch cages...

Ben_renick Mar 25, 2005 09:51 AM

Hey, I just got in a very young super tiger. I have a 6' cage for him already, but I don't want to stress him out, so I'm keeping him in a 20 gallon for now. I'm just wondering how big he should be before switching to the 6' cage without him getting stressed out? About 4-5 ft, or bigger?
Thanks for any help,
Ben R.

You could prob only wait a few months, he will grow outta that 20 gallon pretty quick. The 6' cage really isnt to much of a problem as long as you provide more hides then usual, maybe 4 or 5. Nothin wrong with lettin a little snake stretch.

Yeah I know, that's why I have an extra 45 gal breeder tank, just in case. But alright, I will go with that.
Thanks,
Ben R.

You could also just use that 45 gall now, last him longer, then switch to the 6' in a matter of months.

Yeah, I was going to do that, I didn't even think to put more hides in, I was a little worried that a 45 gal might be too big also, so I will do that
Thanks again,
Ben R.

u could just section off part of the bigger cage with like glass cut for it and just duck tape it down. dont use card board though to section off cuz the humidity will make the card board wrinkle up and come to pieces and if u use glass and duck tape just make sure everyday that the duck tape isnt falling off or the snake might get caught in the tape
