Hey all, I posted a message earlier since I need some quick answers, but I never introduced myself. I recently purchased two juvenile U. Fimbriatus's and am thrilled to say the least. I've been working with cresteds and have found that Fim's might take their place. Well, I have them in a temporary set-up right now, and was wondering what an appropriate size enclosure would be? Also when should I separate them, if I have to at all? Thanks for the help, and its nice to meet y'all. Sebastian

if i were you, i would build or have a custom enclosure built for you. i would make it a minimum of 4'tall by 2'x2'. the larger, most realistic set up you can create is the best life your animals will have, and the highest % chance of getting them to succesfully breed.
welcome and if you have any more specific questions let us know. also, you should as always... post pictures!

With Fimbriatus there isn't much difference if you use a 2x2x2 versus a 4x2x2 for breeding. They will breed if they want to breed. If they are not fed and exposed to good light, excellent ventilation and housed in an environment they feel safe in they will breed. Most people said you couldn't breed Green Tree Monitors in a cage that is 4 feet tall x 18 inches deep x 30 inches wide, yet it has been done several times. Treat the animals right and they will produce.

Re-stating what Umop says, the more natural the environment the more like they are to produce.

BTW good luck mike.
