My female just laid her eggs. Last night I set her up with a nesting area because I was expecting her to lay this weekend but not for a few days. Today is only the 27th day after her POS. At 11AM I noticed something very white in her hide box. I opened it up and she was in the middle of depositing them. I left her alone for 3 more hours until she looked like she was done. I got her off of them and the total count was 7 healthy, HUGE eggs. I put them in the Hovabator and everything is stable. Might need to turn it up just a little cause the temp seems to be staying at about 87-88. I can't believe this really worked. But I've had a headache since 11 and I swear it's gotta be cause I'm so nervous now.
One question I have is, did I do the substrate right? There's one egg at the bottom of the clutch. I'm worried about it getting enough oxygen but there is as much of a window as I can get there. Also, the holes in the lid of the box are covered with scotch tape to keep humidity in. There are airholes in the sides. This is the first clutch of eggs I've had in 13 years. My last and only other clutch was from a black rat snake I caught when I was 11. Back then, I had a quail incubator from the back of a Boys Life magazine and knew next to nothing about how to incubate them but still ended up with 5 hatching and one dead in the egg. The other 11 never even started to develop. I can't believe I even remember all that. But anyway, if I could do it then, I really hope I can do it now. Someone please tell me I'm "just being paranoid and there's nothing to worry about, it's smooth sailing from here." (Please). By the way, she was bred by a 100% het albino male and is supposed to be a 100% het herself but never got any paperwork. I 90% fully believe she is. Can't wait to see if there's any pink/yellow/white skin when the eggs start hatching. So here are the pics. ANY comments or anything else anyone has to say, please do. Thanks alot. Good luck to everyone else. I love being able to finally be a part of this season. I just hope it goes well. Ryan.
