Looking at that ceramic heater that close to those egg crates makes me a little concerned.
How close does it actually get when the lid is down?
How hot does that get? Any idea what the surface temp is on it?

Good luck with the roaches.

I just use heat rope under one half on my bins. Gives a good temp range from 80-95F. Interesting set-up, but it would make me nervous.

Also would not use the chick watering bowl. Roaches will get in the water and die. Most use the water gel.

I have to disagree, water gel is more work then it's worth (gets moldy) and the chick feeder is there to raise the humidity of the enclosure. The sides are too high for any small nymphs to get in. In over two months, I only had one death from drowning, and that was a mistake on my part.

For my crickets I used a chick waterer.
I fill the water tray with clean gravel type
rocks to the brim. Never had any drown
in there. And easy to clean. I used a small
pint jar. Not a Quart that way I did not get
too lazy and cleaned the jar more often. LOL
